Pratyusha suicide: Statement of Rahul’s ex-girlfriend recorded

The city police, investigating the suicide of actor Pratyusha Banerjee, on Saturday evening recorded the statement of Rahul Raj Singh’s ex-girlfriend. Rahul, Banerjee’s boyfriend, has been booked for suicide abetment based on the case filed by the actor’s mother.

Banerjee’s parents and friends have alleged that the woman allegedly assaulted and abused Banerjee two months ago and tortured the actor over her relationship with Singh.

The police have also called Banerjee’s uncle and aunt, who live in Ambernath, Thane, to record their statement. According to a source, the duo claimed Banerjee used to visit their place often and had told them that Singh used to assault her.

Meanwhile, Singh’s counsel Vikas Gaur said they are likely to mention the anticipatory bail application before the Bombay high court on Monday. The plea was earlier rejected by the Dindoshi court.

Police have also recorded the statement of Banerjee’s former help Renu Singh, who allegedly was witness to the fights between Banerjee and Singh. In her statement, the woman claimed Banerjee often borrowed money from her, as she was short of cash to buy medicines, and also showed her the injury marks.

The police have recorded statements of more than 15 people, including Banerjee’s help, actor Kamya Punjabi and their parents and several other important witnesses, most of whom were known to Banerjee.
