‘Salem taken to Taloja jail after security concerns’
The superintendent of police of Arthur Road central prison has claimed that extradited gangster Abu Salem was transferred to Taloja jail following security concerns after he was attacked by Mustafa Dossa, another accused in the 1993 serial blasts case.
The superintendent of police of Arthur Road central prison has claimed that extradited gangster Abu Salem was transferred to Taloja jail following security concerns after he was attacked by Mustafa Dossa, another accused in the 1993 serial blasts case.
An affidavit filed by SP Rajendra Dhamne before the Bombay high court said that there was no illegality in transferring Salem to Taloja.
Salem had sent a letter from jail alleging that assault on him in the Arthur Road Central Prison was preplanned. He has sought inquiry into his subsequent transfer to Taloja Central Prison after the assault on July 24. Salem’s letter, which was converted into petition, alleged that jail authorities were bribed by Dossa to eliminate him. The next hearing is in January 2011.
