Khan has undertaken to supply 2,500 tankers of water to Aurangabad and other towns in the region that are reeling under one of the worst droughts the state has ever faced, through his non-profit organisation Being Human.

While Khan himself declined to comment on the matter, his father, the veteran script-writer Salim Khan, underplayed the gesture.

"There's nothing to publicly talk about something like this. Helping out people in need has been an inherent trait in the family for years now. It gives me immense pleasure that my children have inherited this good characteristic too. Being Human's initiative is a good thing."

Being Human has informed the Aurangabad divisional commissioner through email that it would provide water till the end of May. The NGO will supply 750 water tankers to Beed, 500 each to Osmanabad and Jalna, and 250 each to Aurangabad and Nanded, it said in the email.
