SC quashes Raj’s Shivaji Park hopes

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's hopes of holding the party's election rally at the Shivaji Park ground were dealt a final blow on Thursday, when the Supreme Court denied the party permission to use the venue. The SC rejected the plea on grounds that the area has been declared a Silence Zone.

Thackeray had moved SC after the high court rejected its demand a few days ago.

Talking to the media in Nashik, MNS chief Raj Thackeray expressed his unhappiness with the order.

"I was expecting that SC would grant me permission," he said.
