SC quashes Raj’s Shivaji Park hopes

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's hopes of holding the party's election rally at the Shivaji Park ground were dealt a final blow on Thursday, when the Supreme Court denied the party permission to use the venue. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's hopes of holding the party's election rally at the Shivaji Park ground were dealt a final blow on Thursday, when the Supreme Court denied the party permission to use the venue. The SC rejected the plea on grounds that the area has been declared a Silence Zone.

Thackeray had moved SC after the high court rejected its demand a few days ago.

Talking to the media in Nashik, MNS chief Raj Thackeray expressed his unhappiness with the order.

"I was expecting that SC would grant me permission," he said.
