Khan, a Malwani resident, was arrested on Tuesday night with cocaine worth Rs 4.40 lakh. ANC officers said Khan was just a deliveryman for the drug dealer, who has been identified as a small time model operating from Delhi.

Khan was ordered to sell a certain quantity of drugs before December 31. “Demand for cocaine in Mumbai is higher than in Delhi,” said an ANC officer.

Pretending to be organisers of a New Year party, a week ago ANC officers called Khan and asked for 100 gm of cocaine.

“First Khan declined saying the city police was keeping watch. Then we convinced him saying our party would not be successful without the drugs and if he could not provide the drugs we would buy it from some other peddler,” said an ANC officer.

“He agreed to give 50 grams first to check our authenticity. On Tuesday, we took Rs 2.15 lakh to Khan. When he saw the cash, he believed us and gave us 100 grams of cocaine for Rs 4.40 lakh. We arrested him then,” added the ANC officer.

The officers are now looking for the model, whose parents are also drug peddlers. She left Mumbai seven months ago after her mother was arrested in Gorai. “We are keeping a watch for the model to surface,” said Sunil Parasakar, deputy commissioner of police (ANC).

“We have cracked the code of many websites that have invitations for rave parties. This arrest is just the tip of the iceberg. We have got Khan’s contacts and are tracing the Nigerians who supplied drugs to the model,” said an officer.
