Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police, zone 9, said, "We will verify if the Agriculture commissioner's office, based in Pune, has any records of the Borivli-based chemical store that supplied the chemicals for the pest control. The team will investigate if the store-owner had registered with the Commissioner's office and had the requisite licenses."
The Versova police said that Hitendra M Shah, 41, the owner of the Borivli-based store, said that he had obtained the chemicals from a Pune-based shop. "If this is found to be true, they will check with the shop owner there to see if he has the requisite license for the sale of chemicals," said an official.
