The accused include three women, who police say, abetted the crime.

Police say that the 19-year-old victim was a minor at the time of the crime and became friendly with Shahnuj, one of the accused, as they lived in the same area. “Shahnuj was already married. He promised the girl that he would marry her. He also lured the girl into coming to Delhi for making a fast buck by filming her in an obscene movie,” said Ganpat Vare,
police sub-inspector at the Matunga police station.

Police stated that Shahnuj, along with his wife Raseeda, and friends Raju, Lenna, Raseena took the victim to Delhi in December 2009 after which they met an unidentified person in Delhi who shot the film.
The girl was told that her face would be morphed and the video would be sold abroad and not in the country. She was subsequently paid Rs8,000.

“Around a month back, the victim’s aunt from West Bengal saw the film and contacted her. The victim felt ashamed and approached the police,” said Vare.
