The court was hearing a complaint filed by Balu Avhad, an autorickshaw driver, who alleged he was duped on the pretext of helping him get a loan for his wife’s treatment. “This is a breach of the order of the court and misbehaviour, misconduct on the part of the inspector,” observed metropolitan magistrate RK Shaikh.

Avhad’s lawyer, Prakash Wagh said in 2007, he had been duped by a Rajesh Gupta while trying to secure a loan for his wife’s treatment. Avhad’s other advocate Vivek Sudade said the police mistreated him whenever he went to lodge a complaint. The magistrate was irked that Avhad’s was not a solitary case. Deshmukh had disobeyed court orders in other cases too, the magistrate noted. Deshmukh was unavailable for comment.
