Upset with the government’s failure to address their demands related to salary arrears and appointments, the teachers had boycotted all exam-related work and had refused to evaluate HSC papers, which would have affected all students looking to get into professional courses.

The TYBSc practicals, which began on March 1, have been disrupted every day barring the first day. On Wednesday, after assurances from the government that their demands would be met, the Maharashtra Federation of Junior College Teachers withdrew its agitation, which began on February 21.

From Thursday, around 60,000 junior college teachers will get back to doing exam-related work. State school education minister Rajendra Darda said HSC results would be declared before June 5.

TYBSc students who missed their practicals will be able to complete them soon.

“We are planning to finish them before the first week of April. The schedule’s being finalised,” said Naresh Chandra pro vice-chancellor of Mumbai university.
