Kakkad had allegedly disappeared from his flat from March 5. On March 9, Kakkad's brother had lodged a missing complaint with the Amboli police.

Following Palande's arrest in the Arun Tikku murder, cops arrested his girlfriend Simran Sood after Kakkad's brother told cops about Palande's promises to his brother that he would arrange for a financier for his production firm.

The Amboli police, on Sunday, interrogated Rahul Mane, the Pune resident on whose property the police found Kakkad's BMW. Nothing was found in the vehicle. Mane told the police that Palande and Shinde left the vehicle with him on March 9, four days after Kakkad went missing.

"We don't see Mane's involvement in the case. But, we are investigating," said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police, zone 9.
