A 28-year old man was arrested for allegedly raping a widow in front of her teenaged son. The 35-year-old-victim was raped at her house in Lower Parel, on Friday.
The accused identified as Prakash Amdaskar, who works at a firm that installs CCTV cameras, reached the widow’s residence at 5.00am, said the NM Joshi Marg police.
After reportedly raping the woman, Amdaskar left the house after which the widow lodged a police complaint.
The accused and the victim knew each other as they stayed in the same locality, said the police.
When the victim opened the door, the accused forced himself on her and raped her. Due to the scuffle, the victim’s 15-year-old son woke up to save his mother but was assaulted by the accused, added the police.
“Amdaskar had consumed alcohol when he committed the rape. We have sent the victim and the accused for medical examination,” said Senior Police Inspector Vasant Tajne of NM Joshi Marg police station.
“We have arrested Amdaskar and taken the statement of the victim’s son, as he was the only witness in the case,” added Tajne.
The accused was charged with rape and trespassing, wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and criminal intimidation, under the Indian Penal Code
“We are now investigating if the duo had relationship in the past,” added Tajne.
The police said, the victim lost her husband seven years ago and was taking care of her son all by herself by doing odd jobs.
