AR Jagtap, police inspector, GRP, Kalyan, said: “As Sahu started experiencing pain, she approached the Indira Gandhi Hospital at Bhiwandi. The doctors there suggested that the condition is not serious and hence she can go to Sion hospital for her delivery.”

Consequently, Sahu and her husband boarded the 2.23pm CST-bound local train from Kalyan station.

The woman went into labour on the train itself and gave birth to a boy.

The other female passengers pulled the chain and informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF), who in turn informed the lady homeguards. Sahu was then taken to Rukminibai Hospital, Kalyan.

Dr Sarita Patil, health officer at Rukminibai Hospital said, “The child and the mother are in good condition. Sahu will be discharged in three days.”

A glad Sahu said, “I had to suffer owing to the wrong advice given by the doctors.”
