Arun Chavan, senior police inspector, Santacruz police station confirmed this.
The woman said soon after she was attacked, she approached a policemen at the chowkie.
“I was told to wait for five minutes and then told to go to Santacruz police station if I wanted to lodge a complaint,” the woman said.
Dejected, the woman called a friend and went to Santacruz.
“The policemen at Santacruz police station were co-operative,” she said. The woman who gave a written complaint in English mentioned the two chowkie policemen who refused to co-operate.
“My complaint was translated in Marathi but the portion against the cops’ inaction was not mentioned. They assured me my complaint in English would be attached,” she said.
“What if the attacker knifed someone? The police should have acted swiftly and caught him instantly,” she said.
The police have registered an FIR.
“We have given the description of the accused to beat marshals who patrol the area,” Chavan said.
