It was an emotional evening for Adele and she couldn’t help sobbing after receiving her final award for Album of the Year (she won five awards overall), commenting that she couldn’t accept the award because she felt it should have gone to Beyonce. Even Queen Bey was struggling to keep back the tears as Adele gave a heartfelt speech praising her.

“We adore you, you are our light. The way you make me feel, and the way you make my black friends feel, is amazing... I love you so much, I always have and always will,” Adele said.
Soon after giving an emotional speech for her big win, Adele broke her trophy, but she didn’t seem too fussed. Instead, she had a good giggle with her team present on stage, as she held up the two pieces.
Speaking about her comeback, she said that it “took an army” to help her get her latest album off the ground. “I struggled and I still do struggle being a mum but this made me feel in some way like I have got some of myself back again.”

Later in a press conference, Adele also added, “Like I said in my speech, my album of the year is Lemonade. So a piece of me did die inside, as a Beyoncé fan - not going to lie... I was completely rooting for her, I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win. What the f*** does she have to do to win Album of the Year?”
