If you love to sing, then a talent contest in the city might help you to showcase your musical skills. The contest, in which you can also win an award, is called Sing a Song and has been launched by LAMP Trust in association with Kala Academy Goa and Lorraine Music Academy, Gurgaon.

“We believe that the right kind of music makes the right kind of person. Anyone who can sing is entitled to sing in this contest. One has to sing the songs in four categories, which are patriotic/ nationalistic music, gospel music, folk music, pop/ rock/ Bollywood music,” says Aubrey Aloysius, who is the founder trustee and president of LAMP Trust.

The performances have to be recorded and the video has to be uploaded on YouTube. Then, the performers have to submit their entry on the website, LorraineMusicAcademy.com, by putting a link to their YouTube video and also give a reason as to why they have chosen a particular song.

“The songs can be your own composition or can also be a version of an existing song and entry is open to all. The winner will get an award instituted with the United Nations — the LAMP - Icongo Karma Veer Chakra For Music — and also a chance to perform in a concert along with maestros of the genre of music they won the award for,” says Aloysius.
