The festival will be held in the city and in Mumbai concurrently. “It’s a jazz-festival initiated by Jazz-Addicts — an association of serious jazz enthusiasts. The event is an endeavour to introduce the finest world-class mainstream and classical Jazz to India,” says Ranjan Chopra, founder Zorba, the venue of the festival. Jazz Addicts is an association formed by former Doon school boys and they are bringing international Jazz bands. Jazz saxophonist Igor Butman, Alevtina Polyakova — the only female trombone player in Russia, Nick Levinovsky, Vitaly Solomonov, Alexander Berenson, Eduard Zizak, Steve Masakowski, Roland Guerin, Ashlin Parker, Mike Esneault and others will perform at the fest.
“We have been planning the festival since the last one year. There is a growing awareness amongst Delhites about Jazz and there is a good following of Jazz music which is bridging the generation gap. This opportunity of bringing Jazz in all its purest form was irresistible,” he adds.
While two bands will play per day, the festival is sure going to be a much awaited experience for Jazz lovers.
