AC/DC’s frontman Brian Johnson, who had to drop out of the band’s current tour because of a hearing condition, says things are going in positive direction.

Johnson, 68, recently tried Stephen Ambrose’s ADEL hearing technology, and Ambrose shared an update from Johnson saying, “It works,” reported Entertainment Weekly.

“I was really moved and amazed to be able to hear music again like I haven’t heard for several years now. I can’t wait for it to be miniaturized so I can use it in every situation from normal communication, going out to noisy restaurants, to performing live music on stage,” Johnson said in a statement.

Despite the severity of his hearing loss, he had previously clarified that he is not retiring.
