Here’s why Jubin Nautiyal didn’t mind re-creating Arijit Singh’s Ik Vaari Aa in Raabta

Singer Jubin Nautiyal loves saying simple things through his songs.

Singer Jubin Nautiyal, who has sung popular romantic numbers such as Tere Liye (Fitoor, 2016), Dhal Jaun Main (Rustom, 2016) and Banwara Mann (Jolly LLB 2, 2017), says it’s his favourite genre.

“I love singing romantic numbers. I want to remind the new generation about the power of old school romance. I just love saying simple things through the songs I choose and romantic songs are one way to do that,” says Jubin.

His latest romantic offering is Ik Vaari Aa from the film Raabta. The song was originally sung by Arijit Singh and the 27-year-old singer loved the song so much that he didn’t mind reprising it. Both the versions of the song have been kept in the film.

“I feel very good when songs are recreated or different singers sing the same song. Music is about expressing not impressing. We express emotions. Two different singers have two different expressions,” he says, adding that he couldn’t refuse music composer Pritam’s request to sing the song.

“Pritam da wanted to do this song with me... and I respect my composers. They have a vision for my voice and style,” he adds. The rehashed version took Jubin 30 minutes to record, and the film’s actors, especially Sushant Singh Rajput, were really impressed by his version of the song.

“I took 30 minutes to record the song because everything was in place for me and I had to just fill in the vocals. Sushant loved the song, and it shows in his performance for the music video as well,” says Jubin.
