On one fine May evening, as the Vero Moda store on Linking Road, shut for the day, it quietly turned into an alternative gig venue.

The underground show, All Starr Jamm, did attract a fair bit of curiosity among indie fans, but its invite-only status kept it off-limits for most
people. Now that the store has opened its doors to all and sundry, the monthly gig series will hopefully see a rise in its popularity.

Tonight, singers Pratichee Mohapatra, Aazin Printer and Tara D’Souza will perform as part of the event. For Printer, former lead vocalist of city band Something Relevant, this will be his solo gig after a long hiatus. “This series is an awesome concept. We definitely need more venues in the city, so this is a new and a different space for bands to perform. Also, I will get back on stage in my new avatar — Mr Printer,” he says.

Adds Pratichee, “We are planning a jam with all of us collaborating. I will also be performing my Hindi songs. It’s going to be a lot of fun.” The singer, who was a part of India’s first reality show-chosen girl band Viva, will also sing songs from her second album, Perils Of A Pop Princess.

Catch the gig tonight, from 9 pm onwards. Entry R500 at Vero Moda store, Linking Road Santacruz (W).
