The pop icon voiced her backing for the anti-Vladimir Putin protest group, and she has continually spoken in favor of gay rights too, the Sun reported.

Madonna did two shows in Moscow and St Petersburg last year. But officials now claim her visa she currently possesses does not allow her to work for money in the country.

One MP claimed she was guilty of illegal commercial activity.

At the gigs, she backed the two Pussy Riot singers jailed for a protest against President Putin.

Gig organisers face fines of up to 10,500 pounds while Madonna, 54, could be refused future visas.
