Rahman in Top 50 of a new power list!

He is No. 47 on the list, which has people like Apple’s product design guru Jonathan Ive, designers Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs and artist Damien Hirst.

Last month, Rahman, who was on the Time list of ‘100 Most Influential People in the World’, found himself sitting at the same table as US First Lady Michelle Obama and TV mogul Oprah Winfrey.

As he received his award, attendees chanted his current signature song Jai ho. In the latest power list, he was recognised for this song, downloaded over 100,000 times on iTunes, and for having sold more than 100 million copies of his albums. He was conferred an honorary doctorate last week by the Aligarh Muslim University, an honour previously conferred on former Presidents Zakir Hussain and APJ Abdul Kalam.

Also, veteran playback singer P Suseela crowned Rahman with a gold crown in a ceremony in Hyderabad organised by the Tirumala Music Centre.
