2010 has not been such a great year for music composer AR Rahman. His music failed to create magic in Bollywood films like

and

Jhootha Hi Sahi

. Also, Commonwealth theme song composed by him was a big let down.

Seems like these disappointments have taken a toll on Rahman who has decided to take a sabbatical in the next year. Maybe it will help refurbish his magic again.

But it's not such a happy news for some directors who rely on Rahman for the music of their films. Filmmakers like Ashutosh Gowarikar, Mani Ratnam and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are in a middle of crisis.

Rakeysh, who is currently working on

, will shoot the film's sequences without songs for now and will add songs once Rahman returns to recording. "It is inconceivable to make films without songs and music. And to have music without Rahman is a bit of a contradiction for me. Unfortunately, Rahman is not doing any music scores this year," Rakeysh told

Mumbai Mirror

.

Ashutosh Gowarikar finally signed a new music composer, Sohail Sen, after waiting for long for Rahman and Mani Ratnam too is caught in a dilemma, reported the tabloid.
