BHUBANESWAR: The district administration of Malkangiri in Odisha on Wednesday cancelled Puja leaves of all government employees after Japanese Encephalitis (JE) took on an epidemic proportion, with the death of 32 children in the last 27 days, officials said. Two children died in the last 12 hours in Mathili block of the district. Former Nabarangpur MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi held a demonstration in front of the collector’s residence, holding bodies of the children, and demanded compensation for the families of children who died.
