MUMBAI: Four people were killed and one suffered serious injuries when a car hit one of the dividers on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, on Wednesday.

The driver, who survived the accident, had apparently lost control of the vehicle when the incident occurred.
According to state highway police, the accident happened on Devale flyover at 9.15 am when the car was moving towards Pune.
The deceased, identified as Kunal Nigudkar (24), Onkar Mansarkar (23), Anil Karkhanis (24) and Rajbeer Thakur (27), were residents of Sangvi.
While investigation into the accident is underway, sources from the police said that the driver was either speeding or had skid on the wet highway, thus losing control of the car before hitting the divider.
Officials informed that the four people had died on the spot while the driver, Imran Shaikh, was grievously injured in the mishap. Shaikh has been admitted to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Nigadi where his condition is said to be critical.
