Announcing some new trains in the Rail Budget for the current fiscal in February, railways minister Suresh Prabhu had introduced Humsafar, a special class service comprising AC 3-tier coaches.
“Hums a far will be fully air- conditioned, third AC service, with an optional service for meals,” he had said while presenting the budget in Parliament.
It is a special class train for overnight inter-city journey, with many additional facilities that are otherwise not available in normal AC 3-tier coaches.
The additional features include close circuit TV, GPS-based passenger information systems, fire and smoke detection and suppression systems and mobile/laptop charging points with every berth.
Humsafar will also have improved aesthetics. New interior and exterior colour schemes will present a futuristic look with the use of vinyl sheets.
