NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday sought a response from the Centre on a petition filed by an ex-servicemen body seeking the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme as per the Koshyari Committee’s recommendations that suggested an automatic annual revision.

In the current policy formulated by the NDA government, the petitioner said the periodic review is only once in five years. A bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra said the matter will be heard after eight weeks.
Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani and counsel Balaji Srinivasan argued for the retired servicemen and said the Centre’s approach was a dilution of the February 26, 2014, announcement. As per the announcement, the revision in the pension was to automatically pass on to the past pensioners on an annual basis.
