NEW DELHI: Seven union ministers have made special plans on the Raksha Bandhan day, considered auspicious for brothers and sisters across India.

Textile minister Smriti Irani will visit Siachen base camp to celebrate the day with Indian soldiers posted at the world’s highest battlefield.
Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, women and child welfare minister Maneka Gandhi and water resource minister Uma Bharti will meet them at border areas. Commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman, food processing minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and health minister Anupriya Patel will also meet jawans on the Raksha Bandhan day on August 18. Soldiers at Siachen have seen visits by PM and defence ministers, but Irani’s visit will be the first by a women minister.
