Tension grips Bareilly over use of speakers in mosque

BAREILLY: Communal tension gripped Hafizganj area of Bareilly after Hindus opposed the use of loudspeakers for ‘azaan’ (call for namaz) in a mosque on Friday afternoon.

BAREILLY: Communal tension gripped Hafizganj area of Bareilly after Hindus opposed the use of loudspeakers for ‘azaan’ (call for namaz) in a mosque on Friday afternoon. A group of men from the Hindu community reached the mosque to protest against the use of loudspeakers and had an argument with the Muslims. The situation took a violent turn when both the groups indulged in stone-pelting and firing, sources said. About 20 people sustained injuries in the clash.
