VARANASI: A 12-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by her father in an area under the Deogaon police station in Azamgarh on Tuesday, died in a hospital while under treatment on Thursday night. She was admitted to the district hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Thursday. The father has been arrested.
According to the police, the girl’s mother had alleged that her husband was a habitual drinker. She had informed the police that on Tuesday morning when she went to work, her husband had raped the girl, after which she became unconscious.
Police said the girl’s mother came to know about the incident when she returned from work and her younger daughter informed her. She took her unconscious daughter to the house of her parents. On Wednesday, she contacted the block development committee member as her daughter did not regain consciousness. The committee admitted the girl to the hospital on Wednesday.
