AGRA: The Mainpuri police are probing a video that shows expelled B JP leader Day a Shank ar Singh using foul language against BSP leader Mayawati on Sunday. Daya Shankar, who was in Ghiror town of Mainpuri district to address a meeting, however, denied making any derogatory comment against the BSP leader.

In the said video, Daya-Shankar was found calling BSP leader Mayawati ‘greedy’ and ‘coward’. He also equated her to a dog which races after a speeding motorcycle in the street but withdraws once the biker stops. “So you should all realise your strengths and unite. Then your self-respect will not be dented,” he said.

The former BJP leader stirred a hornet’s nest two months back when he allegedly made a derogatory remark about Mayawati, which led to his expulsion from the BJP. He was the party’s state vice president at the time. The comment was followed by a sequence of events, including protests by BSP leaders in Lucknow and Daya Shankar’s arrest.

However, a similar controversy surfaced again on Sunday with the latest video going viral. Daya Shankar and his wife reached Mainpuri on Sunday evening from Firozabad where Daya Shankar addressed a meeting organised by‘ Savarn Sangthan’ in Ghiror. At this meeting , he allegedly used foul language against the BSP chief, the video of which went viral in the night.

“We have come to know about such a video going viral and the local intelligence unit is investigating the matter. However, no formal complaint has been lodged by anyone so no action is being initiated,” said SSP Mainpuri Dev Ranjan, while talking to HT. BSP zonal coordinator, Mainpuri Deepak Painter condemned the use of foul language but said that their leader May aw a ti had already warned them about such tactics being adopted by leaders of other parties and instructed them to not respond to any provocation.
