NEW DELHI: Indian soldiers have made the country proud with their valour in the army’s recent strikes against terrorist launch-pads across the Line of Control (LoC), home minister Rajnath Singh told reporters on Sunday.

“Wait and watch,” was Singh’s response when asked whether the government will release footage of the strikes to counter Pakistan’s claim that the strikes didn’t take place.

On Monday, Singh will leave for a two-day visit to the Ladakh region in Jammu and Kashmir.

His comments come a day after the Pakistan Army reportedly flew Pakistani and international journalists to the LoC and said no strikes were carried out, according to news agency reports from Islamabad.

A group of 40 journalists was flown by the Army to a forward command post on the LoC represented about 20 media organisations, reports said.

“The country as well as the whole world is aware of this [surgical strikes]... the way our jawans displayed valour and have made India proud,” Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a Swachh Bharat event on Sunday.

Relations between India and Pakistan have nosedived since the army claimed on Thursday to have inflicted heavy casualties during its pre-dawn strikes on “terror launch pads” across the LoC, the de facto border between India and Pakistan.
