According to deceased Pratibha Gautam’s husband Manu Abhishek, he broke into his wife’s official residence after she did not open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. The 30-year-old’s body has been sent for autopsy.
“Nothing much could be said about the cause of death as of now. Things could get cleared after the autopsy report is received,” said SSP Shalabh Mathur.
Pratibha was posted in Kanpur while Abhishek was practising law in Delhi. On October 8, Abhishek asked his wife to visit him in Delhi during the Dussehra holidays. The couple, however, got into a heated argument when Pratibha reached the national capital, after which she returned to Kanpur. Abhishek reached Kanpur to visit his wife after she did not attend his calls.
Police have started preliminary investigation into the case and are on the lookout for the joint magistrate’s servant and driver.
