The accused, identified as Aman Virpal and Monti Rajput, were arrested on Friday evening for allegedly killing Ramaraju Sandesh, a native of Andhra Pradesh, at the Lotus Bouleward Apartment of Sector 100 in Noida on October 17, they said.

Virpal was a tourism student at Amity University, they added.

Sandesh and they had an argument last month when during a party, the former made fun of Virpal’s accent, they said.

Virpal, along with his friend Rajput, bought a country-made pistol from Hapur for Rs 5,500 after which they reached Sandesh’s apartment and when he opened the door they fired two shots at him and fled, superintendent of police (City) Dinesh Yadav said.

Sandesh was living in a rented flat with two other friends, police had said, adding that he was rushed to the hospital after the incident where he was declared dead.

One of the flatmates had told the police that he heard Sandesh screaming “Aman don’t kill me”, SHO Zahir Khan had said.
