The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) said that it has decided to revise detailed project reports (DPRs) of two important proposed metro projects – the 11-km Botanic Garden-Sector 142 link and the 15-km Noida’s sector 71-Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-V link.
DPRs are being revised after the ministry of urban development (MoUD) tweaked its norms for providing financial assistance for infrastructure projects such as metro links, an NMRC official said.
“Earlier, the MoUD used to provide 20% of a metro project cost as loan. But now the MoUD takes 20% equity in a project. It means, the centre becomes a partner in ownership. Therefore, we are revising the DPRs of these two important Metro links proposed to expand the Metro connectivity to various parts of Noida and Greater Noida,” said Santosh Yadav, managing director (MD), NMRC.
The NMRC will send the revised DPRs to MoUD for necessary approvals so that further progress on these routes can be made.
The 11-km metro link will branch out from the existing Botanic Garden Metro station and end at Sector 142 located on the Noida Expressway. The proposed link will provide metro connectivity to industrial and residential areas located along the Noida Expressway.
The 15-km Noida’s Sector 71-Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-V link will expand metro connectivity in parts of Noida and Greater Noida West, which was earlier known as Noida Extension. According to the DPR, the estimated cost of the 15-km project is `3,884 crore. The metro link will have 9 stations. The elevated track of the link will be built above the central verge of the road that connects Noida with Greater Noida West and another road that runs through Greater Noida’s residential and industrial areas.
The DMRC has set the deadline for the completion of the 15-km project in March 2021. The DPR mentions that the 15-km link will put Noida’s sector 71, 72, 122, 119, 118, 67, 63 and 66 among others areas on metro track. Greater Noida’s sector 1, 10, Knowledge Park - I, II, III, IV and V among others will be connected by 2021.
The NMRC on May 13, 2015 had sent the DPR of the 15-km Noida’s Sector 71-Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-V Metro link to the MoUD for approval. It will now send a revised DPR for a final approval.
