Noida: Speeding Fortuner rams dumper on newly opened elevated road
A 35-year-old man driving a Fortuner rammed into a dumper ahead on the newly inaugurated elevated road at around 12.30am on Wednesday.Updated: Jul 05, 2017 16:34 IST
A 35-year-old man was injured after he allegedly rammed his Fortuner into a dumper (truck) from the rear on the newly inaugurated elevated road, from Sector 28 to Sector 60, around 12.30am on Wednesday. The person driving the Fortuner has been identified as Rajan Tomar, a resident of Sector 48.
According to the police, Tomar was under the influence of alcohol and was speeding. “We have been told by doctors that Tomar was under the influence of alcohol. He crashed his Fortuner into a dumper that was moving ahead,” said Umed Singh Yadav, station house officer, Sector 24 police station.
Tomar was returning from Masuri in Ghaziabad, where he runs a factory of mobile scratch cards. He lives with his family in Sector 48 of Noida. After the incident, the driver of the dumper fled as he was scared that people might start beating him up.
“It was Tomar’s mistake as he was driving under the influence of alcohol. The dumper driver is not at fault but he fled the spot as he got scared of the public,” said Yadav.
The police immediately rushed Tomar to Kailash Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. His family was informed about the incident by the police.
“Rajan has suffered severe head injuries. He has also been injured in his abdomen and pelvis. His condition is stable but he is still drowsy. He has been kept under observation,” VB Joshi, public relations officer, Kailash Hospital, said.
The police are awaiting Rajan’s medical report, to book him for drink driving.
In another accident, a biker and a pillion rider were injured after they rammed their bike into a car, also allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The duo who was injured in the incident has been identified as Samrat, 26, of Sector 30 and Ravi, 25, of Sector 36.
Samrat and Ravi were moving from Sector 64 to Sector 16 when the incident took place. The driver of the Volkswagen Polo rushed the injured to Kailash Hospital. Samrat suffered minor injuries while Ravi was severely injured.
The car driver has registered a complaint with the Sector 24 police. Samrat was referred to the district hospital while Ravi is undergoing treatment at Kailash Hospital. The police are awaiting their medical reports to book them for rash and negligent driving, and drink driving. The two work with an export firm.
