Vice-Prez Ansari honours veteran poet Gulzar Dehlvi

Veteran poet Pandit Anand Mohan Zutshi Gulzar Dehlvi was felicitated by vice-president of India Hamid Ansari at Sector 26 community hall on the occasion of Gulzar Dehlvi’s 91st birthday.
The event, which was organized by various NGOs and residents’ welfare association of Sector 26 at the community hall, saw personalities like MLA Vimla Batham and UP minster Kailash Yadav.
Gulzar Dehlvi recited his work. He said that his affection towards poetry is dates back to last four generations of his family. “The new generation’s ignorant behaviour towards Urdu hurts me. It is the only language that connects two religions and countries. There is an urgent need to revive Urdu language for its long existence,” he said.
Spectators said that they were lucky to have a renowned personality like Gulzar Dehlvi living in the neighbourhood. Poetry of Gulzar Dehlvi still have the same energy and power that could motivate youth. “I am here with my children to get a glimpse of Gulzar Dehlvi and his poetry to make my children learn something. The language used by him is pure and it is impossible to hear it in today’s era,” said Nazma Khan, a resident of Sector 26.
While addressing the spectators, vice-president Hamid Ansari congratulated Gulzar Dehlvi and prayed for his long life. “I am attached with Gulzar Dehlvi’s poetry since years. No distance can bar the listener from a poet. Gulzar propagates a message of peace and harmony through his poetry that makes him different. My body could be at any place in the world but my heart will always remain close to Delhi and his poetry,” said Hamid Ansari.
