Kawai celebrated her gold medal in the 63kg freestyle wrestling event at Rio on Thursday by throwing her coach down onto the mat.

Japanese wrestler Risako Kawai has a funny celebration routine, but perhaps her coach may not find it all that funny.

Kawai celebrated her gold medal in the 63kg freestyle wrestling event at Rio on Thursday by throwing her coach down onto the mat as he rushed in for a congratulatory hug.

This is not the first time that wrestlers have thrown their coaches down displaying “love”, or rather, payback for the pain of training. But Kawai took it to the next level as she threw her coach using the fireman carry technique not once, but twice.

Here’s Kawai’s somewhat unconventional way of expressing thanks to her coach.
