If you are a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fan, it is most likely that you have a very strong opinion regarding Roman Reigns. The Samoan-origin wrestler has been one of the most divisive figures in the promotion over the last couple of years and although he has received a lot of backlash from the fans, Reigns is undoubtedly one of the most popular superstars on the roster right now.
From main-eventing Wrestlemania three times in a row to defeating some of the biggest names in the company, Reigns has done it all. However, the reigning WWE Intercontinental champion believes that it is his on-screen rivalry with Braun Strowman that has impressed him the most.
“I believe that my rivalry with Braun Strowman was quite amazing. The chemistry and the stories that we were able to tell were captivating. What I like most about it is that since we’re both younger talents, it was really a need for me to be able to help him and throw some of the experience that I’ve gained to put him on the fast track. And it worked brilliantly,” Reigns said in a conference call.
“From being a Wyatt to being a main-eventer, Braun has been a featured guy and a scary dude. If I can just continue to do that with every young talent, my career would be a success,” he added.
Since his main roster debut, Roman Reigns has been a top talent for the company and 2017 has been extra special for the pro-wrestler. In April, he defeated The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33 and then, he went on to beat another company legend - John Cena - at No Mercy in September.
When asked about his favourite moment of the year till now, Reigns quickly replied, “Beating (John) Cena was more satisfying but my win over The Undertaker at a grand stage like Wrestlemania was obviously a bigger moment for me. Being in the ring with The Undertaker in the main event, that speaks for itself but there is something very satisfying about beating John Cena.”
This year has also seen the revival of the popular faction - The Shield - comprising of Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The Shield was extremely popular among the fans and although they parted ways in 2014, Roman Reigns believes that this reunion can be the start of something special.
“It (the reunion) brings back so many cool memories and feelings. But at the same time, we’re all very different. We’re now more established, we’ve been at it for long now, and we’re all more experienced, polished. But that energy is still the same so it’s refreshing. It’s almost as if a new life has been put into all three of us. It’s a nice change a pace, nice switch of gears.,” he said.
