Chandok completed 24 laps in the morning session, for a best lap time of 1.41.966, and managed another 27 in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton was reluctant to show any extra confidence after putting his nightmare in Melbourne behind him with a fast drive in opening practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix. After topping both free sessions for McLaren, he said he still felt unable to say he was "comfortable".
