Garima loses in quarterfinals of 63-kg women's Judo event

Commonwealth Championship silver medallist Garima Choudhary's hopes of winning an Asian Games medal went up in smoke after losing the quarter-finals of the women's 63 kg Judo event in Guangzhou on Sunday.

Garima lost 100-0 to Yoshie Ueno of Japan in just 28 minutes here.

Earlier in the day, the Indian had beaten Yasmeen B Alsalem of Kuwait in the preliminary stage.

Garima was part of the Indian judo team that won 18 medals, including 13 golds at the Commonwealth Judo Championship in Singapore in January this year.

The Meerut girl had claimed gold in the Asian junior judo championship in 2007.
