World number one Tiger Woods will play in next month's Players Championship, what will be the third event in his comeback from a sex scandal, the US PGA Tour announced Wednesday.

Woods, who shared fourth at the Masters earlier this month in his comeback event, will play next week at the Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina, and again at the TPC Sawgrass from May 6-9.
Also on Woods' schedule is the US Open, the year's second major championship, set for June at Pebble Beach, where Woods won the 2000 US Open in record fashion.
Woods took a five-month break from golf after becoming the center of a firestorm after more than a dozen women claimed to have had affairs with the married father of two.
Admitting adultery with multiple mistresses, Woods made a public apology in February and announced his comeback plans in March.
