Govt to renew Gagan's shooting academy lease

Minister Padmakar Valvi arrived in Pune on Saturday and directed Pankaj Kumar to withdraw the notices and renew the lease deed for five years.
The academies, which were asked to move out before March 31 included London Olympic Games bronze-medallist shooter Gagan Narang's academy, Gun For Glory, the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association academy, Nikhil Kanetkar's badminton and Bhushan Thakur's table tennis academy.
"The notices would be withdrawn and a new lease of five years signed soon," Valvi told HT.
One of the directors in Gun for Glory, Pawan Singh, said, "The minister has assured us that the lease would be extended in a fortnight." The notice had drawn a strong reaction from Narang and Kanetkar. While Narang had said he was shocked when he heard about the notice, Kanetkar said he couldn't believe it.
