Captained by Kamal Chawla, India were scheduled to leave for Pakistan on Tuesday night from Mumbai. The team also comprised Brijesh Damani, Lucky Vatnani and Rafat Habib.

Sources told HT that the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India obtained visas for the tour on Monday evening.

“However, the federation, which had sought advice from the home ministry, received an advisory on Monday suggesting not to undertake the tour,” sources added.

It was learnt that tickets booked by the federation were also cancelled in the wake of the ministry's advice. The cueists were supposed to fly from Mumbai and reach Karachi via Colombo. The snooker series was last organised eight years ago.
