Australia's Alice Mills was the previous youngest gold medallist when she won gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay in 2002, aged 16 years and 72 days. Australia, otherwise, continued to dominate the pool, winning four gold medals on Friday.

Liesel Jones won the 100-meter breaststroke to become the first swimmer in CWG history to win two events at three games in a row. For India Sandeep Sejwal came last in the 50m breaststroke while Virdhawal Khade failed to qualify for the 50m breaststroke finals.
