In the build-up to the National Games in Ranchi, beginning February 12, the Army Sports Institute (Pune) trainees' bid to win laurels in the Ranchi competition has turned sour.

A room-search of the lifters preparing for the event found six players possessing banned drugs. After they failed to convince the officials the reason for keeping them and were asked to leave the centre.

A top ASI official confirmed this. "ASI is a platform to attain excellence, and not to learn short-cut" said the official.
