America's world number one Tiger Woods beat Europe's Francesco Molinari four and three in their Ryder Cup singles match in Newport on Monday.

Woods, unbeaten in singles since 1997, was unstoppable from the ninth hole onwards after trailing up to that point, rattling in four birdies and an eagle in five successive holes.

Victory gave Woods -- a wild card pick by US captain Corey Pavin -- three points from a possible four at this year's event.
