Sitaram Singh killing case: Cong demands CBI probe

Accusing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of trying to "influence and intimidate" a witness in a case charging him of involvement in the killing of Congress activist Sitaram Singh in 1991, the Congress on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the case.

Accusing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of trying to "influence and intimidate" a witness in a case charging him of involvement in the killing of Congress activist Sitaram Singh in 1991, the Congress on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the case.

"The police action against key witness Ramanand Singh in the case proved beyond doubt that the state government and the chief minister are bent on influencing and intimidating the witness," Bihar PCC chief Anil Sharma told a press conference.

Only a CBI probe would be able to ensure "impartial and fair" case and the trial should be held outside the state, he said.

Singh went missing for a couple of days and was found in the house of Congress leader Arun Kumar in Patna on Wednesday.
