The incident took place at Karhatiya Paharpur village under Mahua police station in Vaishali, about 50 km from Patna.

"The siblings - three brothers - were burnt to death after their house caught fire late on Wednesday night," Deputy Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar Gupta said.

The victims were identified as Sanjit Kumar, 12, Rahul Kumar, 10, and Roshan Kumar, 8. Their father, Arjun Rai, was too shocked to say anything to the police.

Gupta said it was not clear how the house caught fire. "We suspect that fire spread rapidly and all three were burnt to death," he said.

Police was investigating the incident.
