The southwest monsoon touched down on Maharashtra on Friday morning and will reach Mumbai on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said while warning of heavy rainfall in the city. Mumbai however, woke up to dry conditions on Friday, as against the Thursday’s moderate thundershowers. (AFP File)

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the result for Uccha Madhyamik (West Bengal Council Higher Secondary or Class 12) examination on Friday. This year, 83.75% students passed. Granthan Sengupta of Jalpaiguri District School, Arts stream, topped with 99.2%. In 18 districts of West Bengal, the pass percentage of girls came out higher than that of boys. (PTI)
