A major fire broke out at 79th All India Industrial Exhibition at Nampally, in Hyderabad, on Wednesday evening. Seven people suffered injuries owing to the incident. Many shopkeepers incurred losses in the fire. The 45-day All-India industrial exhibition popularly called ‘’Numaish’’ began on January 1. (PTI)

India’s unemployment rate rose to a 45-year high during 2017-2018, the Business Standard newspaper today quoted a government survey as showing, in the latest setback for Prime Minister Narendra Modi just months before elections. The assessment by the National Sample Survey Office conducted between July 2017-June 2018, showed the unemployment rate stood at 6.1 percent, the highest since 1972-73, Business Standard reported. The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition against the appointment of former CBI special director Rakesh Asthana as director general of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
